Pieniny National Park is the second oldest national park in Slovakia with unique location on the border with Poland. It is distinguished by a myriad of natural beauties, healthy climate and a wide range of sports and cultural activities.

About Pieniny

A typical feature of Pieniny is the border river Dunajec, which flows through a unique canyon. One of the most famous activities in the Pieniny region, sailing on wooden rafts, is related to the Dunajec.

The rafters with the famous Goral accent and the unmistakable hat with shells skillfully demonstrate their craft on the river and introduce tourists to the most beautiful places in the Pieniny National Park, which must not miss the legendary Three Crowns or Mother of Pieniny, Sokolica. Although Pieniny is slowly becoming widely known among tourists, it is still a location with quiet places to relax and take a break from the working stereotype.

Hiking

For hiking enthusiasts, the Pieniny Mountains offer a number of interesting marked trails. The most famous is the hiking trail to the famous Three Crowns, which starts in Červený Kláštor. From Three Crowns it is possible to take the so-called “ridge trail” up to Sokolica, another important symbol of the Pieniny. Cycling

Cyclists will also find something to do in the Pieniny Mountains. Whether you prefer easier or more demanding routes, you will surely come into your own. The most popular route for cyclists is the 8 km long trail along the Dunajec River, which connects Červený Kláštor with Lesnica – Chata Pieniny. The trail is also suitable for families with children.

Rafting on wooden rafts

One of the greatest experiences in the beautiful scenery of the Pieniny National Park is rafting the Dunajec River on wooden rafts. Rafting has a long tradition in the Pieniny Mountains. Originally, the rafts were used to transport wood and other materials, and from the middle of the 19th century it became a tourist attraction, which is still very popular today.
If you like a bit of adrenaline, it will be a great alternative to a calm sailing on a raft, rafting on rubber rafts, during which you will enjoy real fun. A great activity for team building events too! We will provide you with a hassle-free reservation for rafting or rafting, as well as transportation to the dock in Majer or in Červený Kláštor.

After an active day, everyone will enjoy a relaxing massage or a rest in the sauna. Relax in the wellness at the Chata Pieniny, where an experienced masseuse is at your disposal. Of course, we will be happy to arrange a massage according to your wishes.

Carthusian Monastery

The surroundings of the Pieniny Mountains are rich not only in natural beauty, but also culture lovers will enjoy themselves. The Carthusian Monastery, a national cultural monument whose history dates back to 1320, is located in Červený Kláštor, which can easily be reached by bicycle. In addition to the museum, the building also houses a historically furnished pub from the 18th century, or a shop with handmade souvenirs and monastery herbs.

Ľubovňa Castle

Above the former royal town of Stará Ľubovňa towers Ľubovňa Castle, which was built at the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries. In the past, it was famous for meetings of crowned heads, hiding Polish crown jewels and imprisoning Móric Beňovský, a nobleman, traveller and king of Madagascar. The castle also includes an open-air museum in the castle’s undercroft, which is reminiscent of the picturesque undercroft settlement.

Nestville Park

A unique tourist destination near Stara Ľubovňa in the picturesque village of Hniezdne. Part of the extensive area is the Nestville Distillery, an exposition of distilling and traditional folk crafts, which introduces the production of the first Slovak Nestville Whisky. When visiting Nestville Park, be sure not to miss the Nestville Chocolate Kingdom with its unique children’s playground Stork’s World or a tasting of honest craft beer Nestville Beer.
